DISADVANTAGES:

Even though clean energy is a great alternative, they still have their own set of drawbacks...

WIND ENERGY:
- wind is a variable: If it's not blowing, there's no electricity generated.

-The blades of the wind turbines have in the past incidentally kill birds that get caught in their path.

-The manufacturing and installation of wind turbines requires heavy upfront investments – both in commercial and residential applications.

SOLAR ENERGY:

-The major con of solar energy is the initial cost of solar cells.

-Solar energy is only able to generate electricity during daylight hours.

-The weather can affect the efficiency of solar cells.

NUCLEAR ENERGY:

-High-known risks in an accident.

-Waste lasts 200 – 500 thousand years.

-There are no operating “next generation” reactors, such as high-temperature breeder reactors and particle-beam activated reactors, that are reported to produce less waste and have reduced safety concerns.
